she was an only child.....

NOW.......
her little brother had died last year...
he had been three.....a baby really....
she had accepted, only recently, that he would not be coming back..
that he would not be placing his fat , little hands on her face ever again.....
he had so adored her....
but she had cried all the tears that a body could produce....
there were no more tears left....
so she went through her days....
seemingly, a 'NORMAL, TWELVE YEAR OLD GIRL',
brushing her hair and eating those big, buttery rolls in the cafeteria.....
and chuckling with her pals...
but inside....
in her heart.....
there was SUCH PAIN and ANGUISH.....
as if an arm had been pulled savagely from her body.....
she wondered why GOD was punishing her in this cruel way...

and her parents......BROKEN.....
devastated and angry......
they never ate dinner with her anymore...
she sat in the kitchen alone...
they had been so happy, as a family...

WHY, OH WHY, had she fought so hard when they wanted to put a fence around the pool ???
AND WHY on earth HAD THEY LISTENED TO HER ??
the guilt on the shoulders of this girl was
UNIMAGINABLY CONSUMING....
epic, survivor guilt.....

how would she go on ??
she could NEVER get in that pool again.....
she had heard her mother telling a friend that they were selling the house....

maybe this was a bad, bad dream.....
maybe she would awaken and her brother would be right there...
safe at home....

sorry mi compadres....

there are SO many obstacles.....

on the road to success...
the most significant one being the 'snippety' people
 watching and/or 'helping'....
they don a big smile just for you,
 and they make you feel that they care....
and then...
just like that.....
THEY TURN....
just after receiving that PIECE of you....
that private part which you've entrusted to them ....
and they become grumpy and whiny and MEAN...
and they gossip and they sneer....
and they STAB YOU with their COLD, HARD IRE....
and all you EVER WANTED was a little support !!
and you WONDER how on earth you got involved
with them in the first place !!!
and yet again you realize...
that you've been WAYYYYYY too trusting....
and so it goes, my friends...

and then there were NONE !!

and the brown cow was just TOO stimulated!!
for Grover HAD MOVED the barn to the other side of town...
and the VIEWS from this barn were MIND BOGGLING !!
even for a COW !!!
and the cow couldn't be bothered with the other,
more 'pedestrian' animals in the dwelling any longer...
after all, THE MILK WAS ""NOT"" FREE !!
and so....
Grover had seen fit to house her in LUXURY and the likes...
interesting to note here that she,
 the brown cow,
was missing 4 of her utters !!

there had been a cruel farm hand before Grover.....
he had cut them from her !!!
for no apparent reason....
just sliced those suckers off !!!
in an 'utterly' despicable manner !!
and to add insult to injury,
 he had done so in front of all the OTHER, less 'ascended' ANIMALS !!!
she had been HUMILIATED.....
but time heals all wounds...
she would have to continue to squeeze HARDER,
in order to compensate for the lost utters...
but she was certain that she would, yet again,
RISE TO THE OCCASION....
in fact, she'd been SO inspired by the barn views,
that she had recently emitted PURE, CHOCOLATE MILK !!
