we watched the boy as he stood by the window.....

and it began to rain ......
the skies turning an ominous shade of grey.......
the kind of color that occurs before a major storm.....
before an UPSET.....

clearly......
 he was remembering back to that horrific day....
to that 'pivotal' DAY......

when everything had changed for him......

EVERYTHING.....

and after that.....
he was tense....
and reserved......
and somewhat uncomfortable......

poor thing........
poor boy......

EVEN things that we resent terribly have MEANING.....
and POSITION.......

and leprechauns with black hats and beards continue to appear......
in order to wrap the children in blankets made of 'parchment'.......
and 'commandments'.....

LEST THEY FORGET !

and time will move on......
having taken no prisoners......

as the last drop of orange juice for the summer is poured......
